Functions of the Municipal Court

The Ponca City Municipal Court is the judicial branch of city government responsible for handling all violations of city ordinances. These violations are referred to the Municipal Court by the Ponca City Police Department, Lake Patrol, Code Enforcement, Animal Control, and the Fire Marshal. The Municipal Court has limited jurisdiction to handle all traffic and criminal misdemeanor offenses committed within the city limits of Ponca City.

Fines & Court Costs

The Ponca City Municipal Court is not a court of record; and as such, the Municipal Judge can only assess fines and jail time as set out by Oklahoma State Statutes. Court costs are also assessed according to statute of which the City retains only $30.
