Another function of the Ponca City Municipal Court is to work in conjunction with Youth Traffic Court. This court was organized many years ago to handle first time minor traffic violations not involving an accident. One police officer from the Ponca City Police Department is assigned to Youth Traffic Court, which is in session during the school year. If a student fails to appear in Youth Traffic Court or if they fail to complete their sentence, they will be referred back to Municipal Court for sentencing. When a student completes their sentence as originally ordered through Youth Traffic Court, the offense will not go on their driving record. This prevents points from appearing on your driving record and avoids insurance premium increases that might otherwise occur.
