Library June Programs for Children & Adults

All the programs below take place at the Ponca City Library at 515 E. Grand Ave. 74601

Visit the Ponca City Library this month to write a letter to Deployed Troops, Veterans, New Recruits, or the local first Responders (police, ambulance, firefighters). The library will provide post cards, various types of paper and send letters to Operation Gratitude and the local organizations.

 

Adult Summer Reading BINGO starts June 1 and ends July 31.  Those who participate this summer can make up to 12 Bingos on each card, up to 12 entries per person, for a chance to win a cool Retro Frozen Beverage Station. For a Bingo card go to the Ponca City Library.

 

June 1
Kid’s ages 0-18 Summer Reading Program “Build a Better World” Registration
    Enjoy meeting the Superhero’s again and a bunch of fun library activities. Those who sign up will get a FREE bag, book, stickers, door holder, and a reading log to be filled out and turned in any time before July 26th. All returned reading logs will eligible for a “Night at the Library” after-hours final summer reading program where there will be tons of games and ultimate prizes. Join the Ponca City Library to Build a Better World this summer with all the fun programs and performers we have visiting this year. Origami 101
    This is a come and go event for the entire family to enjoy. All materials will be
provided at this FREE event.

June 6
Zombie Escape Room (See above for how to register)

This is going to be a fun library program you won’t want to miss. This program requires for registration where each group will have 1 hour to complete the Zombie Escape Room. Limited space is available and will fill up fast! You must register for this event as an individual or as a team of 10 or less.

June 7
Summer Reading Program Story time and Craft: “Building Fences”

Recommended ages 0 – 6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

June 8
Summer Reading Program Performer Marshall Mitchell (Cowboy Music for Kids)
10:00 am or 1:00 pm
Build a Masterpiece (See above for how to register)

Let your artistic side out! This program will allow patrons to create art and enjoy a tour of the library’s art collection. All supplies will be provided at this free program.

Recommended for all ages

6:00-7:30 pm

June 10
18th Annual Kids’ Rodeo Carnival

The carnival will begin after the Rodeo Parade around 10:30 am and will end at 12:00pm. The carnival will have stick horse relay, sharp shootin’ darts, 101 duck ponds, lasso roping, ring toss, live animals, free plastic water bottles provided by the friends of the library, rodeo queen signing, bouncy horses, and lots more. Don’t miss this fun event where everyone is a winner.

Movie: “High Stakes: The Life and Times of E.W. Marland” (See above for how to register)

Watch a movie showing about a man integral to the history of Ponca City. The library will provide free refreshments.

Insect Adventure with Dr. Andrine Shufran from the Oklahoma State University Entomology and Plant Pathology Department

Meet live insects and their relatives up close and personal as part of the Summer Reading Program. Free program to attend, and we suggest ages 4 to ensure the safety and protection of the insects and safety of others.
