Library July Programs for Children & Adults

All the programs below take place at the Ponca City Library at 515 E. Grand Ave. 74601

Visit the Ponca City Library this month to write a letter to Deployed Troops, Veterans, New Recruits, or the local first Responders (police, ambulance, firefighters). The library will provide post cards, various types of paper and send letters to Operation Gratitude and the local organizations.

 

Adult Summer Reading BINGO ends July 31.  Those who participate this summer can make up to 12 Bingos on each card, up to 12 entries per person, for a chance to win a cool Retro Frozen Beverage Station. For a Bingo card go to the Ponca City Library.

Summer Reading Program Story time and Craft “Making Music”

10:00 am or 1:00 pm or 3:00 pm

Recommended ages 0 – 6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

July 6

Summer Reading Program: Fourth of July Craft

10:00 am or 1:00 pm

This movie is geared towards ages 4-18. We advise everyone that this craft can get a little messy and will be a fun and easy craft for everyone to make. Call the library for more details or pick up a monthly flyer in the library.

Origami 101

3:00 pm

Free self-guided origami instructions and materials provided to make a windmill origami. For more information call the library, or go to ponca.polarislibrary.com.

Summer Reading Program: Teen Movie

Summer Reading Program: Teen Foodie Challenge (See above for how to register)

1:00 pm

Teen Foodie Challenge is recommended for ages 12-18 and is part of the Summer Reading Program. Teens will get to create sushi using candy and decide which one looks most realistic. Teens interested in this program will need to register. For more information about this program, grab a flyer or brochure at the library or go to ponca.polarislibrary.com

Adult Summer Movie Matinee

The Great Wall, rated PG-13

3:00-4:43 pm

Movies are intended for adults 18 . This movie may not be appropriate for younger viewers. Refreshments will be served, and all movies will be shown in the Library Programming Room. For questions, call the library.

Summer Reading Program: Story time and Craft “Building With Tools.”

Recommended ages 0 – 6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

July 13

Summer Reading Program Performer: Oklahoma Museum Network in Space

10:00 am or 1:00 pm

Building a State with Author John Dwyer (See above for how to register)

6:00 pm

Author John Dwyer will talk about his book “The Oklahomans” and early Oklahoma history. Registration is necessary.

July 14

Summer Reading Program: Family Movie

1:00-2:37 pm

July 17

Summer Reading Program: Teen Movie

1:00-3:06 pm

July 18

Sewing Circle for Teens and Adults (See above for how to register)

Knitting Baby Hats

2:00-8:00 pm

Learn to crochet or knit baby hats to be donated to the local hospital. This is a pre-registration event and is recommended for experienced crafters of the ages 13 and older. Children under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

 July 19

Recommended ages 0 – 6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

July 20

Summer Reading Program Story: “Decorate a Flower Pot”  (See above for how to register)

10:00 am or 1:00 pm

Recommended for ages 4-18

Children can use their imagination building things with toy blocks.

Summer Reading Program: Night at the Library

6:00-8:00 pm

During this time the library will be closed for all other library services to the public. This is an invitation only for ages 1-18 for completing a Summer Reading Program Bingo Sheet. Ages 6 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult. Each child must have an invitation received from the Children’s Librarian in order to enter the building. We will have games, refreshments, and give away the ultimate prizes for reading this summer.

July 31

Summer Reading Program

All adult reading Bingo cards will be due this day in order to win the ultimate prize.
