1. What do I need to get a library card?

You will need a completed Ponca City Library Card Application. These applications must be signed. You must be able to print or write legibly your first and last name, except where a disability may require accommodation. Finally, you must present proof of identification showing both name and current address.

2. What constitutes proof of address?

Acceptable types of identification include either a current driver’s license or a combination of a photo ID with one of the following documents indicating current address. Keep in mind that whichever one of these documents you present for proof of address must have your own name and current address on it:

• Checkbook


• Current utility bill


• Lease agreement


• Library postcard


• Military identification


• Passport


• Proof of employment / pay stub / ID badge

3. Can I get a Ponca City Library card if I don't live within your service area?

Yes. The Ponca City Library provides a nonresident card to those who are ineligible to receive a library card because they live and work outside the Library’s service area. These cards are active for one year from the date of issue and cost $26 per year. Applicants must fill out a Non-Resident Application, present proof of address, and pay for the card.

4. How many items may I check out?

Accounts have a 50 item limit. Six of these items may be videos.

5. How long can I keep items from the Ponca City Library?

• Videos can be kept for three days.


• New books can be kept for one week.


• Most of the rest of our circulating materials, except certain AV equipment, can be kept for two weeks.

6. Can I renew items?

Any circulating item may be renewed twice as long as no reserve has been placed on it and as long as your library account is within acceptable status (meaning there are no overdue items or fines). You may renew in person, over the phone, or over the internet using the library’s online catalog.

Please note: when renewing over the phone you will need to provide your library card number. When renewing online you will need your library card number as well as your pin number.

7. Does the Ponca City Library have any rules regarding unattended children?

The Ponca City Library welcomes children of all ages to its facilities and programs. To promote child safety, library policy requires the immediate presence of a responsible adult for all children under the age of eight within the library building.

8. Is there an outside bookdrop available at the Ponca City Library?

Yes. Our bookdrop is located in the alleyway behind the Library building. You may return any type of library material in this bookdrop. Late videos and DVDs will still be assessed late fees when returned in the bookdrop. For immediate processing of items, please bring them into the building.

10. Does the Library have any outreach programs?

The Library provides several different outreach options. There is a “Request for outreach or home services” form that should be completed so that the person needing the outreach can indicate what kind of services would suit them best. Some of those services include: Monthly book delivery thru the mail, book selection for pick up by relatives, friends, etc. through the creation of associations between library cards, library curbside pickup. The Library strives to provide services to all who wish to use our facility. Please contact the Ponca City Library and ask to speak with the Adult Services Librarian for further information concerning outreach services.

11. What are the hours for Story Time?

Storytime for all ages is Wednesday morning at 11AM throughout the year. There are stories and music followed by a craft.  No preregistration is required. Call the Library at (580) 767-0345 for a current schedule of events or check out the event calendar in the above menu on the left.
