1. How can I apply for a job with the City?

You can come to City Hall and pick up an employment application or go to the employment section of this website, fill out an application and submit it.

Open positions we are accepting applications for are posted in Human Resources at City Hall and on this website. We only accept applications for open posted positions.

2. If I've previously completed an application, will I automatically be considered for other positions?

No, a separate application form is required for each open position.

3. When will I get a call for an interview?

The Department you are applying for will contact you if they want an interview.

4. Does the City of Ponca City have any prerequisite to employment other than the essential functions and qualifications described by the job posting and job description?

Yes. After the hiring authority selects the top candidate for a position, the Human Resources Department will conduct a background investigation which may include employment, driving history, criminal investigation, and other reports which may include information regarding character, work habits, performance and experience of past employment from previous employers. Certain positions require skill set testing. Following a job offer, candidates will also be required to successfully complete a city paid pre-employment drug screen and a physical for some positions

5. Does the City offer a benefit program?

Yes. The City has medical, dental, a prescription drug card program and a Flexible Spending Account plan (Section 125). Also, we have a prescription eyeglass program, life insurance, a City sponsored retirement plan, paid vacation, paid holidays and paid sick leave.
