1. How many parks are in Ponca City?: Parks and Recreation maintains Cann Memorial Gardens, Unity Gym, Veteran’s Plaza, AMBUC Pool, Wentz Camp and Pool and 30 parks. Each park area provides various amenities such as playground equipment, shelter houses, restrooms, tennis courts, splash pads and disc golf courses. The Lake Ponca recreational area features play structures, picnic pavilions, grills, restrooms, showers, lake lot rentals, boating, fishing, kayaking, walking, hiking, biking, sand volleyball, disc golf and camping. Special use areas such as the archery range, ball fields, mountain bike trails, nature center, AMBUC Moto-X Track and GOOFS Field (a radio-controlled airplane field) are maintained under collaborative user agreements.

Yes, Ponca City has several walking trails:

• Cann Memorial Garden Trail located at 1500 E. Grand Avenue (up to .38 miles)

• Downtown Fitness Trail located at 516 E. Grand Avenue (up to 1.53 miles)

• Lake Ponca Walking Trail located at 1150 L.A. Cann Drive (up to 1.325 miles)

• Marland Estate Trail/Redbud Trail located at 901 Monument Road (up to 1.53 miles)

• RecPlex Trail located at 1604 W. Grand Avenue (up to .86 miles)

• War Memorial Trail located at 706 N. Seventh Street (up to 1.325 miles)

• Standing Bear Trail located at 601 Standing Bear Parkway (up to 1.72 miles)

3. Where is the Lake Ponca Campground located?: The Lake Ponca Campground offers both tent and RV camping. Located on the northwest corner of East Dam Road and Prentice Road (East Dam Road intersects L.A. Cann Road east of Lake Ponca Park before the bridge). The campgrounds are for recreational use only. Camping sites may be rented for a minimal fee on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are taken. Electrical and water hookups are available, as is a small dump station and a restroom/shower facility. The maximum length of stay is two weeks.

4. How do I reserve a shelter house?: The shelter houses located in city parks and at Lake Ponca Recreational Area are reservable in three separate time blocks; 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.; or 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Rentals must be made seven days in advance. Payments are due at time of booking and reservations may be made up to one year in advance. If shelter houses are not reserved in advance they may be used on a first-come, first-served basis.
