Emergency Management maintains volunteers that make up part of the Emergency Communications Center staff. Volunteers provide severe weather spotting and assistance with communications during emergencies or disasters. Amateur radio operators provide radio communications for the American Red Cross
and other support services, in order to assist relatives in determining the welfare of their loved ones in disaster areas. Local Citizens Emergency Response Team members fulfill a number of services for Emergency Management. They assist with Hazardous Waste Collection Day, flu shot clinics and many other special events.
